Fixed data plans or unlimited by the day

Two ways to get connected

Tanzania's plans split into two kinds. One set is measured in gigabytes on the ZAIN/Celtel network, priced for a fixed amount of data over a set number of days. The other is unlimited access sold by the day, running on Airtel or Vodacom. Both run on 4G and 5G.

Choosing a size

The 1GB plan, valid for a week, or the 3GB plan over fifteen days, suits a short trip where messaging and maps are the main use. Longer stays or heavier use, photos, video calls, streaming, sit better with the 30-day sizes: 5GB, 10GB, 20GB or 50GB. If a fixed data plan runs out before the trip ends, a top-up on the same eSIM restores data without starting over.

Paying by the day instead of the gigabyte

The unlimited plans suit a different traveller: someone who would rather not think about data at all and knows roughly how many days they will be online. A single day covers a stopover or a short excursion. The 7, 10 and 15-day options suit a full trip where data use is unpredictable, heavy or hard to plan for in gigabytes. These plans carry a fair use policy: past a daily amount, speed is reduced for the rest of that day, then returns to normal the next day.

Buying ahead of the trip

Validity begins the first time the eSIM connects to a network in Tanzania, not at purchase or installation. It can be installed days or weeks before departure with nothing lost, ready the moment the plane lands.

Sharing the connection

Hotspot and tethering are available on every plan, fixed data or unlimited, so a single eSIM can cover a phone, a laptop or a travel companion's device.
