One national network covers the plan, with no extra roaming step.
Two ways to get data in Germany
Two kinds of plan, one network
Every plan for Germany, fixed data and unlimited alike, runs on O2. The fixed data plans use O2's 4G/5G network, and the unlimited plans use O2's 3G/4G network. The choice comes down less to the network and more to how the trip is shaped: a fixed amount of data to make last, or unlimited data sold by the day.
Fixed data plans: pick a size, top up if needed
The fixed data plans range from a 1GB, 7 day option up to 50GB over 30 days, so a short weekend and a month-long stay can both be matched to a size rather than a duration alone. If the data runs out before the validity period ends, a top-up on the same eSIM brings it back, which suits anyone who would rather start with a smaller plan and add more only if the trip calls for it. Hotspot and tethering are included, so a phone on one of these plans can share its connection with a laptop or tablet.
Unlimited plans: pick a number of days
The unlimited plans are sold by the day, from a single day up to a full month, and carry a fair use policy: once a daily amount is used, speed is reduced for the rest of that day. This suits travellers who would rather stop tracking a gigabyte total and just use the phone as usual, streaming, navigation and internet calls included, for the length of the stay. Hotspot and tethering are included here too.
Buying before the flight
Validity begins the first time the eSIM connects to a network in Germany, not at the moment of purchase or installation. The eSIM can be bought and installed well ahead of departure with nothing lost, since the clock only starts once it connects on arrival.
